I am the Department of Community Standards (DCS) Manager for the second largest community association in Colorado. We have over 6000 lots in a mixed use development, approximately 21 square miles. We have residential, commercial and some light industrial areas. The DCS is responsible for processing all project permit applications and inspecting all approved permits, upholding architectural standards, until the projects are complete. We are responsible for compliance inspections and working with our owners to try to bring all properties back into a state of compliance if they are found to be in violation of rules. Our Board fines only when we have exhausted all other alternatives. I also produce extensive educational materials for our owners about issues that are pertinent to our area. Currently I am doing a lot of education for what owners can do to lower their risks in a wildfire. I supervise a staff of 4.
